Gord Downie & the Country of Miracles have announced their upcoming North American tour, including a performance in Toronto on November 5th.
The Grand Bounce is the third solo offering from The Tragically Hip’s front man and follows the acclaimed Battle of the Nudes (2003) and Coke Machine Glow (2001).‘The East Wind’, the infectious first single from The Grand Bounce is now playing on radio stations across the country. ‘The Grand Bounce’ means desertion,” said Downie. “I came across it reading ‘Son of the Morning Star’, Evan S. Connell’s epic book about Custer and The Battle of the Little Bighorn.” The Grand Bounce was produced and mixed by Chris Walla, guitarist for the American band Death Cab for Cutie and was recorded at the Bath House near Kingston, Ontario, Canada.
“I thought that Chris might like working with the Miracles and they him,” added Downie. “I thought this would be the best way to serve the songs. These were some of the hunches that brought us together for two weeks last August, me and Chris and the Country of Miracles.”
The Country of Miracles are Josh Finlayson (bass), Dave Clark (drums), Julie Doiron (vocals), Dale Morningstar (guitar) and John Press (keyboards).
